The Třebel Castle is located on a steep promontory above the Kosový creek. It was founded by the Lords of Svojšín in the 13th century. An important military encounter of the Thirty Years War, the battle at Třebel, took place at the castle in the 17th century . In June 1647 the Swedish army under the command of Marshal Wrangel launched the military intervention in Bohemia. Cheb gave up on the 17th July and Wrangel advanced further into the Bohemia inland. The Swedes came to the 2 km wide and up to 80 m deep valley of the Kosí creek. By seizing the castle Třebel they began to build the foreground. The imperial troops reconquered the castle on the 19th August. The Swedes then retreated then and built the camp about 2 km from the edge of the valley.
The villages of Týnec and Vysoké Sedliště provided the administrative support. The Imperial army camp spread between Olbramov and Vlčí mountain with the town Černošín in the rear. Both armies built outposts and field fortifications. About 9000 imperial soldiers launched an attack on the 22nd August. After two hours of fighting, both armies withdrew, victory was achieved by none. Then the Swedes withdrew to German territory followed by the imperial army. Třebel castle was destroyed during heavy fighting. In 1648 Emperor Ferdinand III finally ordered the castle to be to pulled down, so that it could not be used in the anti-Habsburg revolt.
The battle at Třebel castle is shown in two engravings, which capture also the castle, by M. Merian. Archeological excavations and historical engravings show, that there were outer walls at the back of the promontory. The castle itself was protected by a moat , which was carved in the rock. A square tower protected the gate. Round bergfrit stood near the gate. Later an extremely large farmyard with baroque granary with carved cellars underneath and a gamekeeper´s lodge were built on the site of the former castle. Recognizable parts of the fortifications, moat and slight remains of walls are recognizable in the north and east. Several cannonballs are set in the walls of the former gamekeeper's house.

he Volfštejn castle is located 1.5 km southwest of the village Černošín and can be reached by a yellow tourist trail. It stands on a rocky promontory below the summit of Vlčí hora (Wolf Mountain), which provided good conditions for the defense and even building material for the construction of the castle. This part of Vlčí hora is composed of basalt and is the remnant of the lava flow. The lavas are exposed in the moat where is the denuded columnar basalt. The columns are arranged vertically, but they originated in horizontally stored lava. The castle Volfštejn was not large, Its ground plan was almost oval. Volfštejn came into existence in the early 13th century. It was protected by steep slopes, facing the Černošín where ditches with timber stockade were built. Battlements formed an important part of the fortification that was located outside the main walls .This protected area of the bailey allowed the movement of defenders, especially shooters, in front of the main walls thus increasing the active protection. There is a circular, conical main tower called “bergfrit” with late Romanesque arched portal at the head of the castle. The rear part of the castle was occupied by the palace with flat ceilings and slightly conical walls. It had two floors. There are remains of younger building alterations in this part of the castle. There were two opposing constructions attached to the wall in the courtyard. Only remains of masonry were preserved from the square tower.It is not quite clear where the access path and entrance were. The present entrance to the castle was created additionally after the castle destruction.
The castle is an example of bergfrit type and belongs to rare buildings that have retained a simpler form without significant modernization. The founder was probably Ctibor of Volfštejn. The first written record of the castle dates from 1316. This year the castle is mentioned as the property of Beneda Volfštejn . The Lords of Volfštejn of had transverse stripes and a wolf or wolf 's head in their coat of arms. This family has lived in Volfštejn until 1460 when they moved to the nearby castle Třebel .Volfštejn was destroyed at the end of 1470 when Zelenohorská jednota was fighting with the troops of King Jiří z Poděbrad.The castle protected the important road that connected Plzeň with Cheb for more than a hundred years. The castle was merntioned as abandoned in 1527.

Volfštejn Castle

Single-storey chateau, which was commissioned by Judita Príchovská. After Príchovsky family, the chateau was sold to the knight Josef Bigatt from Cheb. The partially preserved interior conceals Baroque marble fireplaces and wallpapering, which is painted on leather.

Svojšín Chateau

The dominant feature of the Cebiv village square is the Baroque chateau, featuring the unusual signature layout of the prominent architect František Maxmilián Kaňka. The unsuitable way in which the chateau was used as well as its subsequent dilapidation during the last seventy years have, though, caused considerable damage to its magnificent facade and gorgeous interiors; their present decrepit appearance is a silent reminder of the faded glory of the chateau.

Cebiv Chateau

The township Chodová Planá belongs to the most interesting urban units in Tachov district. It is mostly due to extensive building activity of the Haimhausens at the turn of the 19th century. The issue of buildings in Chodová Planá is unclear due to the fire, which destroyed most of the documents.
The first castle was a two-storied Renaissance building, which is shown on the map of Planá farmhouse from 1676. The castle burned down sometime before 1734 , when a new castle was built. The old castle was not probably demolished and continued to serve after the reconstruction as housing for officials. It is not possible to tell, where the castle stood. It could be the building standing across the road opposite the former castle with No. 2. This property is called the castle in 1880. The castle built in 1734 is today marked with No.2. This is a rather large two-winged building covered with the French roof. Above the central buttress, where are the entries with vaulted passages, are simple little Baroque gables.
Preparations for the construction of the new castle started in 1970´s during the time of Jan Arnošt. However the youngest residency in Chodová Planá, Neo-renaissance castle, originated during the time of the Lord Hans Ernst von Berchem – Haimhausen according the plan of the Viennese architect R. Feldschark in 1902 – 1904. It was built by the architect Thomas Thuner from Planá. After the war the castle became the property of the state. In the fifties the castle and the large part of the park were turned into a military area and were occupied by Planá company of the Border Guard. Troops remained here untill 1990. Today the castle is owned by the Chodová Planá township and undergoes slow reconstruction.

Chodová Planá Chateau

Original early Gothic water citadel rebuilt into a chateau in the 16th century. In the 19th century, during the era of Romanticism, the chateau was enhanced by the addition of a park and an attractive neo-Gothic appearance, dominated by a cylindrical tower. At present, extensive reconstruction is taking place throughout the entire grounds. In June 2003 the first part to be restored was opened to the public.

Bor u Tachova Chateau

The ruin of Gutštejn castle rises on a steep cliff above the creek Hadovka near Konstantinovy Lázně (Spa Constantine). The castle was built on phylitic greywacke and slate, which were formed at the bottom of the Proterozoic sea more than 500 million years ago. The original marine sediments were strengthened and then transformed during later orogenic processes.
The castle was founded in the early 14th century by Hroznatovci, who derived their origin from the beatific Hroznata, founder of important Premonstratensian monasteries in Teplá and Chotěšov. The first written record of the castle dates from 1319. The castle belonged to the Gutštejns until the mid-16th century. During the Hussite wars the owners of the castle stood on the Catholic side and served the king Zikmund (Sigismund). The castle lost its impregnability in 1422, when it was besieged by Hussite troops under the command of Jan Žižka. The Gutštejns family , faithful to the king Zikmund, had received a number of villages and monasteries in Chotěšov, Pivoň, Plasy and elsewhere . After the Hussite wars they belonged to the most powerful families in western Bohemia. Burian of Gutšetjn owned Bělá, Rabštejn, Nečtiny; Tachov, Komberk and for a short time also Stříbro. He was the regional governor to Žatec and Plzeň and managed the Chotěšov monastery. At the turn of the 15th century during wars between the Gutštejns and King Vladislav Jagelonský the castle became prison for the rich prisoners. The seat of the Gutštejns was moved to Bezdružice in the 16th century. Gutštejn family members had held important posts at that time. They died off in 1747.
The castle consisted of two main parts, the forecastle and the inside castle, separated by a deep moat. The forecastle, which had economic function, is practically lost. The only remain of the forcastle is a small cellar carved into the rock. The original castle had no tower and so the defense was provided by massive perimeter wall. The core of the castle consists of three parts: the trapezoidal first courtyard, the second courtyard with the remains of the palace and the main towers with the defense wall towards Hadovka. The castle dominant is the main square tower with rounded corners and high-lying entrance. According to the results of archaeological research the tower was completed at a later date, probably at the turn of the 14th century.

Gutštejn Castle

Throughout the centuries the original castle replacing an even older Gothic fortified settlement had undergone numerous reconstructions until it attained its present late-Barque form. The chapel with an ornamental sculpture of a Bethelehem scene made of melted crystal dates to the same period. Accommodated at the chateau is a museum with collestins of glass artefacts made by leauding Czech artists. Selected items are for sale at the annexed glass-art gallery.

Bezdružice Chateau

During the Hussite Wars (1419-1434), the city was several times besieged and conquered. In 1427, Prokop the Great defeated the crusaders near Tachov. The Thirty Years War (1618-1648) damaged the city considerably. In 1664, Count Johann Anton Losy became the new proprietor. The Losy family began conversion of the medieval castle to a large baroque château. In 1784, the title passed to the Windisch-Graetz family. The Windisch-Graetzs, in their turn, rebuilt the house in the classical style at great expense.

Tachov Chateau

Château Trpísty (Schloss Trpist in German, Zámek Trpísty in Czech) is a late baroque 18th century manor house located at Trpísty in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It was built between 1723 and 1729 for Count Prosper Anton Josef von Sinzendorf on the site of a medieval castle.
Because the house archive was lost in late 18th century, the identity of the architect is not clear. Recent research favours the authorship of Jakub Auguston, an architect of Italian descent living in Pilsen (Plzeň in Czech). The extravagant layout and decoration of the house set it apart from Auguston's other works in provincial style, so Trpisty either is his best and most mature project or it has been designed by somebody else. The layout of the building is based on two pavilions (the North and South Wing) connected by two large oval rooms protruding in the middle of the East and West facades. The piano nobile on the first floor is lavishly decorated with allegorical baroque frescoes in stucco mirrors, while the main drawing room boasts a large fresco on its entire vaulted ceiling depicting an apotheosis of the Sinzendorf family and historic scenes from the Ottoman Court.
The large formal garden was landscaped in the English style in the 19th century and contains today a rich collection of rare trees, among them a 19th-century female Ginkgo tree.
The château, its park and outbuildings are among the last remaining examples of 18th century Bohemian country houses embedded in its original landscape without visible changes in the wake of industrialisation or subsequent destruction during the communist rule and belong to the most valuable historic estates in Central Europe.

Trpísty Chateau

Prostiboř is first mentioned in 1115. However, the municipality was previously about the first half of the 11th century. In this period continued Slavic settlement from the central parts of Bohemia to the west along the river and trade route from Prague to Bavaria. The village was declared a village conservation area, in which are preserved some interesting buildings.
Its landmark is the church. Nicholas. Already in 1356 it was mentioned as a parish. Originally a Gothic building was rebuilt in the Baroque period, when it added a tower dating from 1753 to 1756. The tower is equipped with a bell cast 1551. The church used to be a cemetery. Its range proves preserved stone wall.
Southeast of the village on the green path stood the castle. Expected emergence of the castle in the 13th century, the first mention is from roku1235. This noble and insignificant castle was bergfritového type. This is a typical 13th castles and 14 century. The head of the castle was a tower, which served as the last refuge of the defenders of the castle. Therefore, mostly only accessible by bridge or ladder, which defenders could be easily removed.
The castle was a better defense capability built on a granite promontory above the river Úhlavkou. Neighborhood Prostiboř is built paragneisses and schists and crystalline Domažlice Kladruby granite massif. From the geomorphological point of view belongs to the rugged hills on the edge Stříbrský Sedmihoří. Granite features in the outcrops in the ditch of the castle and the slope of the valley to the river. In the 16th century in the Baroque style was modified and completed in its present form. Thus, rather range. The castle is now very dilapidated and under renovation. With it is already covered. An interesting part is preserved wooden ceiling, built from hewn oak beams and půlkuláčů. According to dendrochronological analysis trees were used to build the ceiling felled in 1307, and is thus one of the oldest wooden structures in the Czech lands.
Just as in the surrounding communities and Jewish community lived here. Their stay in the village is attested from the 17th century. The synagogue, built in 1838, was very spacious, but most of it was demolished in 1923.
