The Princely House of Thurn-Taxis is a German, in Central Europe living, noble family of Italian origin that was a key player in the postal services in Europe in the 16th century and is well known as owners of breweries and builders of many castles.
The Chateau Dobrovice was built in 1608 at the site of older fortress by Hynek of Wallenstein in late-Renaissance style. The buiding changed owners and also was rebuilt several times. Later was partially rebuilt into sugar factory and nowadays serves as an office building for sugar producer Tereos TTD a.s.

In the Middle Ages and early modern times not very famous or significant names of the owners took turns at Loučeň. The Thirty Years' War meant a principal change for the history of the manor. At that time, to be specific in 1623, the Wallensteins came to Loučeň. Since then Loučeň has not been sold, which shows its value indirectly.

Loučeň Chateau

The basis of the mansion is simple rectangular, three-dimensional renaisance fortress, which rests can be found in the cellars and partialy in the ground floor of the western part of the mansion. The ground plan was probably changed into the present form during the baroque renovations in the 30th of the 18th century. The present ground plan is in the form of the letter U with rounded inner corners of the courtyard. The building has one floor, only in the central part of the western wing it is one floor higher. The main western frontage is connected with a square three-floor pavilion on each side. Each pavilion terminates originally with attic. During the Scherzer´s period 1760-74 the building was further renovated to the shape which was kept, except of some details, to the present. There are late baroque details on the facade of the 1st and 2nd floor. You can still find the original architectonics details in the rooms on the ground floor.

Castle ruins with a part of the palace, preserved chapel window and sections of the fortifications. The castle was built on a high bank of the Jizera, probably in the mid-13th century. In the first half of the 14th century, its expansion was stopped by Prague bishop Jan IV. In 1526, its owner built a more relaxing chateau in Nové Benátky (known now as Benátký nad Jizerou) and the castle was abandoned.

Dražice Castle

The chateau is built on the site of a former fortress. Two-wing, single-storey building with a mansard roof. Valuable furnishings have been preserved in the interior - fire places, staircases, decorated ceilings etc. In 1911, Czech opera singer Ema Destinova visited the chateau.

Domousnice Chateau

The original fortress was first mentioned in 1404. By the end of the 16th century it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style by the Křinecký family from Ronov. When the Dětenice chateau was bought by Jan Kristián, Count Clam-Gallas, it was renovated in the late Baroque style. During the period of 1762-65 Zachariáš Fiegert, architect, designed the present look of the building. Later, during the repair work for the Maltese Knights just minor changes were made.
At present, the chateau offers well-preserved Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque frescos, wall paintings and rococo and classicist stucco decorations. In addition, there is a gallery with a rich collection of paintings, armoury and trophies.
The Dětenice Chateau is a place where historic programmes, rococo balls and medieval feasts take place. In the park you can come across well-preserved sculptures from the period of classicising Baroque.

Benátky nad Jizerou Chateau

In place of the present castle originally stood wooden fort, which is recalled in 1429 by Mr. Bohuněk from Stránov. In its place Jaros from Sovojovic built from 1463 to 1468 solid Gothic Castle, which was named Nový Stránov.
From 1545 to 1589 the castle was owned by famous family Berk of Dubé
In 1589, the owner of the castle become Charles from Biberštejn, the Imperial Council and the highest mint master Kingdom of Bohemia. Later the castle was getting new owner Michael Slavata from Chlum. During the role of family Biberštejn or Slavata castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance look.
Around the year 1642, owner become Jan from Lisau (a member of the Brandenburg nobility, he was promoted to the nobility for bravery in the Battle of Nördlingen and later to imperial commandant in the Cheb . His descendants after three generations declared to be the Czech nationality and called themselves as the Lords of Lisov.
After on the castle lived of Jan's son, Rudolf Adam from Lisov, with his wife Elizabeth Lidmila (great-granddaughter of the astronomer Tycho Brahe) and she spent many years of her life in the castle.
In 1746, by marriage the ruler of the castle become Jan Vaclav Příchovský from Prichovice. This Baroque Knight from the leading aristocratic family left around the castle manny visible traces – Stránov was rebuilt in Baroque style, the castle garden was added (which unfortunately disappeared), sandstone Baroque fountain was built in the castle courtyard and in 1767 St. Václav Church in front of the chateau (the author is a famous architect Philip Heger).
Since 1794, was owned by master Bedřich Václav Vojtěch Herites (people called him Herod), after his death Jan Herites, and until 1864 Knight Bedřich Neubauer.
Present romantic appearance was made in the neorenaissance rebuild in the late 19th century, which was performed in 1890–1894 on project designed by Joseph Schulz builder J. Mráz on order of Lady Marie from Valdštejn and Vartemberk.
The castle was in 1917 bought by the Škoda factories President and Senator in Parliament Joseph Šimonek, which was for a contribution to the development of industry promoted to the baron status. His son František Šimonek and his family lived on Stránov until castle was nationalized in 1950.
After the nationalization of the castle was used as a children's home (in front of the chateau was located Common Agricultural cooperation), which led to a corresponding all non-sensitive adjustments (toilets and washing facilities were built into the main corridors and state rooms, etc.).
Since 2003 is back in the hands of the Šimonek family. The castle was in 2004 for the first time in its history, opened to the public, together with partial reconstruction of the interiors and exteriors of the castle.

Stránov Сastle

The castle was used as a castle warden's residence. In the course of time, it served as offices and later it was also the residence of the authorities of the time.
After the Thirty Years War, it was administered by the city authority and deteriorated. In the mid 18th century the whole building was rebuilt into barracks and used by the army until 1953. When the army left, it was used as a textile storehouse (until 1972).
At present, it is the residence of the Museum of the Mladá Boleslav region.
