There are large ruins of this castle that was built around 1330. The castle’s heyday was in the 16th and 17th centuries when it was supposed to serve as an anti-Turkish fortress. However, it was already deserted in 1709. Today, the Polypeje civil association is making an effort to save it from further decay.

The first written mention of the mansion in Korycany is from 1611. The former mansion was then complemented by the chapel. In the 17th century the mansion was rebuilt into a Baroque chateau, which consisted of two wings. Further reconstruction was about 100 years later. The third wing of building and balustrade was added.

Koryčany Chateau

The castle was built approximately in the first part of the 13th century, but archaeological finds suggest that the area around Buchlov castle was settled in the oldest periods of civilization. The function of the castle was defensive, agricultural and administrative as well.
The first form of the castle had a similar ground-plan as buildings of that era. It was created by two massive prismatic towers situated on opposite parts of a rocky plateau. A high palace on the southern part of the yard was built at the same time and it was surrounded by a wall. The second construction period occurred in the 1370s. Another tower was built and on the second floor of this tower there was a chapel that held the most valuable objects of early Gothic architecture of the day.
There is an opinion that a model for this chapel was one of French royal chapels. Unfortunately, during later capturing of Buchlov Castle by armies of Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus in the second half of the 15th century, the chapel was destroyed to the point that it was abandoned. It was replaced by two large rooms serving as store and depository. And although the castle was a permanent possession of a king until the 16th century, it was often given in pawn to aristocratic clans. Nobles of Cimburk owned it at the end of the 15th century. At that time a representative chivalric hall was built. In the year 1511 the castle was given to a private holder, and from the 16th to 18th century various Moravian clans changed its ownership. The most important were the nobles of Žerotín, Zástřizl and Petřvald. Constructional work continued in Renaissance style. Some parts of the castle were added in baroque style. However, in 1701, the Buchlovice Castle was finished and in 1751 the owners, the Berchtold noble family, occupied it for more than two centuries.
A family museum was built in the castle thanks to the brothers Leopold Berchtold and Bedřich Berchtold. Leopold Berchtold, who was foreign minister of Austria-Hungary at the beginning of World War I. He was buried at Buchlau after his death in November 1942. In 1945, after the end of World War II, the castle was confiscated on the bases of Beneš decrees and became property of the Czechoslovak state. Later it was added to the list of national cultural monuments. Nowadays it is open to public, and many cultural programs are held each year.

Buchlov Castle

Cetechovice Chateau is a Baroque four-winged building west of the village. At present it is a private property and not open to the public. Initially a fortress stood here, first mentioned in 1481. In 1682–1685, Karel Antonín Zeller of Rosenthal carried out some basic modifications. Irregularities in the shape of the northern and eastern wing reflect local connections to this fortress. The chateau was reconstructed into the present Baroque one-storey building in 1731–1738, under Josef Antonín of Mayerswald. A year later, the village including the chateau fell into the hands of the Petřvald family. In 1763 the chateau was bought by the Künburgs, who converted the original park around the chateau into arable land. The entire chateau is dominated by an enormous Baroque portal with fine decorations and a sundial. Over the portal, a joint coat of arms with emblems of the Zellers of Rosenthal and the Mayers of Mayerswald is located. After 1945 it became a collective farm, but also the Franciscan Order seated here. For the needs of the Order, the interior was extensively reconstructed, which completely damaged the chateau rooms. After 1989 the chateau was returned to the Šimon family.

Cetechovice Chateau

The area around Buchlovice was inhabited as early as the Stone Age, and the first written records of this district date from 1270. In 1540 Buchlovice became part of the estate of nearby Buchlov castle. This medieval fortress, which did not meet the increasing demands for a comfortable and prestigious residence, ceased to suit its owners, who decided at the beginning of the 18th century to replace it with the grandiose château in Buchlovice. Jan Dětrích of Petřvald had the chateau built according to the proposals of Italian architect Domenico Martinelli between 1707 and 1738.
The château complex is made up the ceremonial building known as the Dolní zámek (Lower Château), and the building known as Horní zámek (Upper Château), which had a service function. A courtyard of honour extends between the two. Around the château an Italian-style park was created, which was extended and altered in the English style in the first half of the 19th century and is among the most valuable of its kind in the Czech Republic. After the Petřvald dynasty died out the château was acquired in 1800 by the Berchtolds. In 1807 Leopold I Berchtold established a military hospital in part of the château and a drapery in the stables. The château is open to the public and visitors can admire the state rooms, and chambers with rich stucco work and painted ceilings.

Buchlovice Chateau

Bucovice chateau is an unique example of the Italian renaissance style of  building north of the Alps. the chateauCompared with most of our renaissance chateaux it is not a mere renaissance-style conversion of an older residence (castle or fortified settlement), but a realization of original project for a late-renaissance "palazzo in fortezza" style of building.
The arcade courtyard is remarkable. Its 90 columns are decorated with 540 relief carvings picturing battle scenes, coats of arms, fantasy animals and creatures, masks and musical instruments. Elia Canavale and Antonio Silva - two Italians who lived in Bohemia, carried out the  stonework.
The mannerist fountain in the courtyard is the work of Pietro Materna following the design of Giovanni Giacomo Tencalla. They both were prominent artists of the imperial court. The fountain, with themes of sea sirens, dragons and a sculpture of a Bacchant pressing wine from bellows is one of the most beautiful fountains in Central Europe.

Bučovice Castle

The first titled owners of the Milotice estate lived in a moated fortress. The remains of the moat can still be seen around the chateau today. When the fortress no longer met the more sophisticated living requirements of the family, a programme of reconstruction was undertaken from 1586-1596, most probably by Bernard Ludwig Tovar of Enczesfeld, resulting in a two-storey chateau. This Renaissance family seat had arcades both on the ground and on the first floor. A fundamental transformation in the appearance of the chateau then occurred in the 1770s with the addition of corner towers and another floor after the chateau had been razed to the ground by a Tartar raid in 1663.
Although Milotice had been in the hands of the Serényi family since 1648 it was really only of peripheral interest to them until the early 18th century. The estate took on a new lease of life with the advent of Karl Anton Serényi in the wake of his successful career as a diplomat. He was Hofmeister at the court of Marie Magdalena, sister to Emperor Charles VI, a post which called for a suitably elegant residence. Out of all the Serényi estates Milotice was chosen for this purpose on account of its proximity to the capital city of Vienna.
Since up to that point the chateau had only served for warehousing and administrative purposes, it became necessary to undertake some building renovations. The four-winged ground plan of the chateau was preserved even for the baroque reconstruction of the chateau, which was carried out in two phases, from 1719-1725 and from 1738-1743. The first was under the auspices of by the Brno master builder Franz Benedict Klíčník, the architectural plans being carried out by a local master bricklayer from Hodonín, Martin Pahnost. It is not clear who exactly the architect was.

Milotice Chateau

This original medieval castle was built in the 13th century for the purpose of defending the border between Czech and Hungarian territories. It was built on a small islet in a sheltered tributary of the Morava River. In the 16th century it was converted into a Renaissance chateau. In the 19th century its last private owner, Chorynští of Ledské had it renovated in the Empirical style and the chateau’s grounds were transformed into a park with several small buildings. Chorynští had to abandon the chateau during the Second World War. The chateau and the buildings around it became offices and residences.

Veselí nad Moravou Chateau

This Chateau, built in the late Baroque style in 1764-1769, is one of the works of F. A. Grimm. The chateau grounds feature and English park and a French garden. A local horse-breeding farm, established in 1882 by the chateau’s then-owner Aristid Baltazzi, is renowned for its breeding of English thoroughbreds.

Napajedla Chateau

The first owners, the lords of Kravař, performed the first reconstruction and built the west wing around 1450. In 1501 it was purchased by the estate of Žerotínova and the chateau underwent further reconstruction – the east wing was erected. During the pobělohorsky period, the Magnisovas acquire the chateau in a desolate state ruined by the previous war period. The Magnisovas planted a chateau park. In the middle of the 19th century, the chateau was reconstructed for the last time into the neo-renaissance style with elements of classicism.

Strážnice Chateau
